"Losing Ground", Festival Dance, The Banff Centre, 2005; Alberta Ballet, Calgary, 2006

Choreography by Sabrina Mathews

This work remains my most evocative experience in design.  I was asked to provide an element of frailty, softness and movement which would contrast to the austerity, but richness of set design.

The final blouse design was made of silk organza, the gum washed out with heat, leaving a fabric that had body, loft and a feminine softness which was breath taking to watch float across the stage.  The range of motion was sustained through open seams in the arm scythe and front opening.  The men's pant fabric had a drape and cut that while body forming, allowed for a similar flow in movement.

It was very well received and produced again by Alberta Ballet the following year.
